Arizona Inpatient Drug Treatment Centers, Picking the Right
There are many different Arizona inpatient drug treatment centers, some for just women, others for men, and some that provide services to both at the same time. There are facilities located in cities all over the state. You can easily find a center by going online and just typing in the key word into any search engine. Here is where the dilemma lies, with all the centers available, which one is the right one? This article is not about saying facility A is better than facility B, rather it is about what any inpatient drug rehab facility should include in their program.

Almost any Arizona inpatient drug treatment center is going to get a person clean, initially. Someone wouldn't be going there to do drugs or alcohol. However, this is just a first step in the process. It isn't enough to get the person clean, they have to be able to stay clean. No treatment center is going to be one hundred percent effective at keeping someone clean and sober, and facility that claims this is lying. Even the best centers in the country only have about an 80% success rate. Staying clean is a choice made by the individual who is using.

The facility should have a well trained staff of doctors, counselors, nutritionists, and after care specialists. Doctors should be there to help patients deal with the realities of withdraw symptoms. Counselors are perhaps one of the most important people working at a treatment center for many reasons. They help people deal with the underlying causes of addiction. This may be from abuse, both mental or physical abuse that the patient suffered as a child. Many people may have suppressed these problems for so long they don't even remember what they are, or why they started using, a counselor is there for this reason. They can help to identify the underlying causes, as well as how to solve these issues without turning to drugs.
Behavioral specialists are also there as well. Many people have spent so much time doing drugs, hanging out with people who are using, and putting themselves in situations where drugs are available that they don't know anything else. A specialist teaches them new and better habits, where to go where there isn't any drugs, how to get rid of those so called friends that are still using, and how to make new friends that aren't. They can also help a patient learn new ways to cope with the every day stresses of life without drugs, through meditation, yoga, as well as many other methods.

Nutritionists are there because the patient needs to relearn eating habits. In many cases, drugs or alcohol was a substitute for food, and these people may have poor nutrition. Here they are taught how to eat and prepare healthy meals, how to shop for foods that are going to give them strength and endurance, both mentally as well as physically. Nutritionists can also direct patients to proper exercise habits, in order to get into shape.

No matter how long the person is in Arizona inpatient drug treatment centers, at some point they are going to be released. This is where after care specialists come in. They help the patient deal with life on the outside, direct them where to go to get self help to stay off drugs. Some of these can be Narcotics Anonymous, or other self help groups they can join.

With dazed eyes, a dribbling of saliva coming out of her half-opened mouth, a greatly disheveled appearance and extreme tooth decay, all 84 pounds of Shannon slowly shuffled into the clinic at the River Source Naturopathic Treatment Center in March of 2007 as a last ditch effort to help break her devastating cycle of opiate dependency. Just a few short hours earlier, she had been discharged from a local Phoenix, Arizona area hospital for bilateral pneumonia, with additional diagnoses of malnutrition, depression, anxiety, heart palpitations, hyperthyroidism, and opiate withdrawal. Having unsuccessfully attempted to get off of the powerful and long-acting opiate methadone at local community detox facility prior to her admission to the hospital, her family researched the alternatives and discovered the River Source. Upon hospital discharge they brought her directly to us for detoxification and treatment. Admittedly, I had great trepidation to accept her as a patient upon seeing her extremely ill state, and yet in that moment I knew that if something was not done for her that the possibility that she would die within the ensuing weeks was very high, as neither the hospital nor the detox facility had afforded her the level and type of care that she really needed to be given a new lease on life. My colleague Dr. Dave Arneson, N.D., who also worked at the River Source at that time, and with whom I shared the responsibility of treating Shannon during her stay, later commented that it was by far the worst case of a methadone withdrawal he had ever seen.test
