Drug and Alcohol Detox Program
Fees for Detox have been discounted from $5,000 to $2,500 for up to 5 days. Our 10 day program is $4,500 and is discounted from $9,000.
We pride ourselves on providing you with an drug and alcohol addiction detoxification recovery program in a safe, comfortable and nurturing environment. Your personalized addiction detoxification program will be determined and monitored by our key Medical Doctor. In addition, you will be in the hands of our highly experienced Naturopathic Doctor, professional staff members who will be watching over you 24-hours per day.
The River Source addiction detoxification is typically a 3-10-day process. We are unique because we go above and beyond to offer a superior detoxification program. With our unique integrative approach we use both medical and naturopathic treatments so our clients detox pain will be minimal. Most programs offer their patients and staff minimal medical treatment and supervision during the initial withdrawal process. Our addiction detoxification program not only offers ongoing supervision, but also the expertise of our Licensed Physician and Licensed Therapist who specialize in addictive medicine.
The Licensed Doctors supports our patients by determining and prescribing the most medically comfortable addiction detoxification protocol. An example of our unique protocol for Opiates is for the first 12 to 24 hours benzos such as Klonopin / Klanazapan; muscle relaxers (parafonforte pyschobenxaprene or soma; for nausea phenegren or alternative; for sleep trazadone or anatryptalene; after 12 to 24 hours; Suboxone for 3-5 days, homepthaic remedies, nutritional iv (high magnesium, high b’s and c’s’ complex b 5, 6, and 12’s, calcium, and zinc etc) and oral vitamin therapy, dry sauna, acupuncture, Physical Manipulation (Back Adjustment), massage therapy, b-12 shots, meditation, light exercise, counseling 1 on 1 and group therapy to help with aftercare plan. By the end of the detox you will not be on any of the drugs. Yes it really works! See the article by Dr. David Arneson and Dr. Liz Kim on how this works “link to articles” or go to in the news / archives.
Simultaneously our substance abuse detox offers inpatient treatment, medical supervision (under the care of a naturopathic physician and medical doctor), nutritional iv therapy. We also provide individual counseling/life coaching, group therapy. Our Sauna Detox - helps to get the “bad stuff” out of your body and the nutritional IV therapy puts the “good stuff” back into your body. That’s why our combination of Sauna Detox and Nutritional IV Therapy is a winning combination that makes sense and works. The River Source is a holistic substance abuse treatment program which simply means we focus on all aspects of recovery - mind, body and spirit. The therapist supports our patient by determining any underlying psychiatric / psychological factors that contribute to the patient’s addiction (ex. Dual Diagnosis). This simply doesn’t happen in most drug treatment programs, particularly at fees as reasonable as ours.
Finally, each patient in our addiction detoxification is under the direct supervision of a Doctor and Counselor who have Professional Certification in Addiction Counseling. Upon completion of Detox, the Drug Treatment Team presents the patient with options that will help to insure ongoing recovery.
Brain Training / Neurofeedback
The River Source Treatment Center is delighted to provide "Brain Training (Neurofeedback)". Brain Training is a treatment modality that helps addicts with overcoming chemical dependency to drugs and alcohol and many other ailments:
• Anxiety• Depression • Panic Attacks • Lack of focus • Memory Problems • Addictions • ADD/ADHD • Sleep Issues • Stress • Anger • PTSD • Brain Injury • Learning Disorders • Pain Mitigation • Dementia • Sexual Function • Sports Performance And much more!
"Brain Training" can relieve the urges from addictions within 2 sessions, combined with the education and services provided at The River Source inpatient rehabilitation center, clients can gain the necessary tools to change destructive habits for a life time.
What is Brain Training? It’s Neurofeedback.
Neurofeedback, also known as NeuroTherapy, EEG Biofeedback, Brainwave Biofeedback or Brain Training is a natural, medication-free approach to improving attention, reducing impulsivity, enhancing mood, and improving performance in all aspects of life. Neurofeedback is a form of brain exercise that allows you to retrain and rebalance your brain for optimal performance, while helping to improve memory, mood and energy levels. Through the use of non-invasive computer technology, neurofeedback monitors brainwave activity and encourages healthy brain function. Your brain learns to become calmer, more alert, and more flexible. Using specialized electronic equipment, the computer reads your brainwaves and provides instant "feedback" to you through video images, sound, or both. This feedback tells your brain to produce more or less of certain kinds of brainwaves, encouraging it to activate differently - literally retraining your brain toward healthier patterns. Neurofeedback is a customized exercise regime for the brain which gives you similar benefits (achieving and maintaining strength and flexibility) obtained from following a consistent workout program at the gym. With regular training, you will see an overall reduction or elimination of symptoms, increased cognitive flexibility, improved intellectual cognitive flexibility, improved intellectual functioning, and better emotional regulation.
How Does Neurofeedback work?
In Neurofeedback the information that is fed back to the client is EEG (electroencephalogram) data read and collected by sensors placed on the head. Very tiny amounts of electric energy are read and processed by electronic and computer equipment to provide moment by moment information about the brain’s activity. This activity is shown to the neurofeedback practitioner as wave patterns on a computer screen. Clients hear sounds/tones and sometimes visual feedback (animations, puzzles, and video displays/graphics), when the brain “behaves” as desired. The goal is explained to the client, and the client’s brain learns how to make that happen without the person knowing how they do it. Simply wanting to hear the beeps seems to be enough to get the brain to cooperate. The result is that a client practices brain activity in a healthy range, and the brain gradually develops the ability to maintain that behavior by itself.
How Do I Get Started?
An assessment of brainwave patterns or brain regulation is completed prior to the beginning the Neurofeedback training sessions. Brainwave activity is measured with an electroencephalograph (EEG). The EEG biofeedback equipment is connected to the individual with sensors that are placed on the scalp and ears. A computer then analyzes the brain waves. The person’s brainwave activity is then observed on a computer monitor. The data from this assessment is combined with a variety of other information gained from the client interview. Based on all the information gathered a training plan is then generated.
Is Neurofeedback New?
Neurofeedback has now been studied for over 40 years, and many of its clinical applications have been identified for quite some time. As with any new treatment, the literature published about it will focus on areas in which the treatment is most successful. Since the brain is so vital to many aspects of our lives, improving overall brain function tends to have widespread positive results. It's not unusual for someone to report that though they came in for help with one problem, they have found help they didn't expect in other areas. However, it is clear that neurofeedback does some things much better than others. Here are some areas in which neurofeedback performs exceptionally well: Alcoholism and Drug Abuse: Neurofeedback has been found helpful in preventing relapse for those recovering from chemical dependency. Research on this began in the late 1980's and continues. Anxiety: Anxiety is sometimes the result of a brain that is working too "fast" and needs to be calmed. This would certainly be the case for the types of anxiety that are more medical or genetic in origin. Depression: Depression often involves problems in the frontal lobes that respond to brainwave training. This is one of the cases where the treatment of something with neurofeedback may result in needing less medication, or a client begins to look overmedicated.
ADD and ADHD: Neurotherapists often conceptualize ADD and ADHD as the result of too much slow brainwave activity, particularly in the frontal lobes. Training the brain, and especially the frontal lobes, to be "stronger" at a more normal rate of activity will tend to reduce problems with concentration and focus. In some cases learning disabilities also benefit from neurofeedback that includes work at the location in the brain associated with the impaired area (reading, speech, etc.)
Why Might Neurotherapy Help Treat Addiction?
Elizabeth Hartney, PhD, a psychologist with extensive experience in research, practice and teaching in the field of addictions and concurrent disorders states in her About .com article on October 15, 2009 (Neurofeedback and Neurotherapy as Treatments for Addiction - Changing Brainwaves May Help Overcome Addictive Tendencies) ”that brainwave patterns typically seen in people with addictions, as well as the children of alcoholics (even those who do not drink), is too many fast brainwaves and too few slow brainwaves. This creates a lot of “mental chatter” for the person and can cause them to have a hard time quieting their mind. Drinking or drug use can be a way of slowing down the brainwaves and self-calming, which is why so many people with addictions also have problems with anxiety.
Another pattern often seen in people with addictions is the opposite – too many slow brainwaves, which makes it difficult for the individual to focus and hold their attention. People with attentional problems such as ADHD have this pattern, and they may cope by using stimulant drugs –- prescribed, over-the counter (including coffee), or illicit -- to speed up their brainwaves and help them focus. With the help of neurotherapy, they may be able to bring their brainwaves into a more functional range and no longer need drugs to feel calm and focused. Neurotherapy can be a good choice for people with addictions because it is a drug-free approach. Once the brainwaves have been adjusted to function more effectively, the effects are permanent. People who have been dependent on drugs for years can become drug-free.
Neurotherapy can be used in conjunction with other therapies such as counseling, motivational interviewing, EMDR, art therapy and lifestyle changes. This is important for overcoming addiction, because there are many factors -- genetics, brainwave imbalances, stress, social influences, and so on -– that both cause the addiction and keep it going. Each factor needs to be addressed to enable the individual to find new ways of coping that do not involve the addictive behavior or lifestyle.
Neurotherapy may help your inner world function better without the need for alcohol or other drugs to feel “normal.” However, you will have to work on making your outer world supportive of a life free of addiction. Counseling may help, and neurotherapy may also help to give you the focus, motivation and determination to succeed.”
How much does it cost to have Brain Training / Optimization?
For an initial assessment and up to 15 sessions within 30 days the cost is $2,500
For an initial assessment and up to 30 sessions within 60 days the cost is $4,000
Constitutional Hydrotherapy
Constitutional hydrotherapy is a special technique in which alternating hot and cold compresses are applied to the torso and abdomen which greatly improves recovery from various illnesses, both acute and chronic by stimulating our vis medicatrix naturae, our own body’s natural ability to heal itself.
During the treatment the patient lies comfortably on a soft table while hot towels are applied over the upper torso to warm the body. Once the body is warm, a single cold towel is applied in exchange for the hot one. This process occurs twice: once on the front of the body, and again, on the back.
The hot compress causes local vasodilation (widening of the blood vessels), causing blood to be drawn away from the core and to rise toward the blood vessels closer to the skin. Then, the alternating cold compress causes vasoconstriction (narrowing of the blood vessels) which drives the blood back into the core of our body. In addition, the cold compress (also called a warming compress) is kept on the torso for 10 minutes, allowing body to warm it. This process increases circulation and immune function. Some sources state that this warming process increases white blood cell production and lymph flow throughout the body. This increase in circulation is very beneficial for detoxification and excretion of toxins from the body, and increasing tone of the vessels.
At the River Source Drug and Alcohol Treatment Center, we add another dimension to the traditional constitutional hydrotherapy to enhance its benefits. Hydrotherapy researchers have shown that an increase in blood flow is delivered to the underlying organs in response to stimulation of the skin above it. For this reason, electrodes from a sine wave machine are applied to the skin above the adrenal glands and abdomen to deliver a mild, soothing current to those organs. Stimulating the adrenals and intestines increase the body’s ability to recover from stresses at an optimal rate. The adrenal support is vital for our clients because prolonged use and abuse of pharmaceutical and illicit substances have been known to decrease the function of this crucial gland, responsible for the direct production of vital hormones in our body, and linked to our brain’s signaling pathways (via the Hypothalamus-Pituitary-Adrenal Axis). Long term use of Opiates and other substances have also been known to decrease immune function, especially by disrupting the intestinal flora and its tissue: the Gut Associated Lymphoid Tissue (GALT) and Mucosa Associated Lymphoid Tissue (MALT), which account for 70% of our body’s immune system. Enhancing the function of the GALT and MALT would allow the body to protect itself from foreign pathogens so that it may divert more of its energy to healing and rebuilding the body during their stay at the River Source.
Patients who receive Constitutional Hydrotherapy report improved sleep, increased vitality, decreased recovery time from colds and flus, and an overall peaceful and serene detoxifying experience. As with all therapies, consult your Naturopathic Physician before receiving constitutional hydrotherapy and receive all treatments under a physician’s supervision for your safety.
